As 2009 draws to a close we can only look back on the year that has occurred and there have been some good parts and some bad parts and unfortunately a few deaths as well (most recently Umaga) and now is as good a time as any to give out some awards for the end of the year.
WWE Superstar of the Year = Randy Orton: Without a doubt he has helped carry the WWE this year and has seriously been brilliant in most of the matches that he has participated in, and his story with Kofi Kingston has been a really good one and has meant that the WWE is finishing the year in a good shape.
TNA Superstar of the year = Kurt Angle: In my mind he is one of (if not the best) Wrestler in the world at the moment and no matter what the occasion is he always seems to bring his best wrestling and even when he was injured earlier on in the year he still managed to wrestle at the top of his game which not many people could do.
Match of the Year = Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania: Without a doubt this was 2 old performers at there very best and the show that they put on for the biggest night of the year was just brilliant. Definitely the best match of the year as no other match even got close to it.
New Superstar of the Year = Drew McIntyre: I’ve been very impressed with this guy since he came to Smackdown just a few months ago and his wrestling ability is definitely not something that is in question. He has now won the Intercontinental championship and I believe that 2010 will be a big year for him.
Tag Team of the year = Legacy from WWE and Motor City Machine Guns from TNA: Legacy have been the best tag team this year and before the combination of Chris Jericho and Big Show they were the only serious tag team around that performed week in and week out. In TNA The Motor City Machine Guns have just started to get back to performing as a tag team and just they way they work together shows how class they are together.
So with 2009 drawing to a close I’m looking forward to the Royal Rumble which always kicks the new year off right and with the weapon use and blood that has been evident lately maybe a better year for the WWE is on the horizon.
